The Counselor Support Services will provide school counselors with the opportunity to build a stronger and more informative counseling presence at their school and implement programs that meet state and federal requirements. The Counselor Support Services Coop is designed to provide support to LEAs relating to social-emotional and academic counseling. This includes topics such as: Character Education, graduation requirements, assessment information, and college and career readiness. Participants will be provided information and updates in order to stay current with the latest research and best practices related to school counseling.

Services

  • Calendar reminders of due dates and requirements
  • Listserv communications
  • Consultations on counselor issues via email and phone
  • Counselor website for resources and information

 

Technical Assistance

  • Evaluation of the Comprehensive Guidance Counseling Program
  • Assistance in developing guidance activities
  • Review master schedule, course offerings, and graduation plan documents to ensure college and career readiness requirements are in compliance with Chapter 74 graduation requirements

 

Other Events/Services

  • Ethics and legal updates

  • Suicide Prevention
  • Mental Health Training

 

Monthly Sessions to include:

  • Academic advising information
  • Chapter 74 Graduation Plan Implementation
  • Character Education programming
  • Small group and individual mental health education and therapy techniques
